# Understanding WideBundle's Bundle Types

In this article, we'll explore the differences between our two bundle creation methods: Automatic Discounts and Variant Bundles.

## Overview

Variant Bundles was our original bundling system, but we've since introduced Automatic Discounts to provide more flexibility for our merchants.

### Automatic Discounts

This system works by configuring products and their quantities in your offers, then applying automatic discounts in the cart. When a customer adds a bundle to their cart, all individual products are added and the discount is automatically applied both in the cart and at checkout.

### Variant Bundles

This method uses Shopify variants as bundles. WideBundle creates new variants on your product where each variant represents a complete bundle. When customers add a bundle to their cart, they're actually adding a specific variant rather than individual products.
